‘FAMILIES DON’T HAVE TO MATCH’ – BLACK COUPLE SHARE THEIR JOURNEY TO ADOPTING THREE WHITE CHILDREN

Sadie and Jarvis Sampson faced years of struggle trying to conceive, exhausting every method until they reluctantly accepted they might never have children of their own. Then, a life-changing text message altered their course overnight.

Since their marriage in Jan. 2018, the couple had pursued conception diligently, but when natural methods failed, they explored every option available.

“We tried everything: ovulation tests, prenatal vitamins, cycle tracking apps, fertility monitors,” Sadie recounted.

Even after seeking medical advice, including a recommendation to lose weight for improved fertility, the couple’s efforts remained unrewarded.

Despite Sadie’s successful weight loss, pregnancy eluded them, leaving them disheartened and resigned to the idea of remaining childless.

Just as they were about to abandon hope, a friend approached Sadie with an unexpected proposition: Would they consider fostering a baby? Initially hesitant due to the emotional risk, they eventually agreed.

Their tentative steps toward fostering quickly transformed into a life-altering opportunity when the birth mother expressed her desire for the Sampsons to adopt the baby.

The news came as a shock, but also as a joyful revelation. Within days, they were preparing to welcome their newborn son into their lives.

Born prematurely at 33 weeks, weighing just 4 lbs., 5 oz., their son arrived with his own set of challenges, but the couple embraced him with overwhelming love and gratitude.

Their journey to parenthood didn’t end there. In 2021, they expanded their family further by welcoming twin girls through embryo donation, emphasizing their belief that “Families don’t have to match.”

Despite facing unconventional challenges, their love for their children remains the cornerstone of their family.

Their story serves as a testament to resilience, love, and the diverse forms that families can take. It’s a narrative worth sharing with the world.
